• Swirl flap failure: Intake swirl flaps can crack and get ingested into engine — catastrophic if it happens. Delete or replace with upgraded units.
• Turbo actuator (bi-turbo models): Bi-turbo N57S/N57D30T1 models — VTG actuator on small turbo can fail. Causes limp mode.
• DPF clogging: City driving clogs the DPF, especially on short trips. Forced regeneration or replacement may be needed.
• EGR cooler failure: EGR cooler can develop internal leak. Causes coolant loss and white smoke.
